Beautiful Beetles – Vintage Volkswagen in Peru

One of the first things we noticed after our arrival in Lima were the many old VW Beetles we saw on the streets. Somehow, each and everyone of them caught our eye – probably because their age would easily put them into any vintage car museum back home… 🙂

Here is what we found out about them and why they continue to be popular:

• VW used to produce them in Brazil and Mexico so transport was not far
• They are easy to fix – no fancy electric and many spare parts
• They are cheap and reliable, you get one in good condition easily for under 1.000 USD
